National Mission on GeM in India Explores Significance of Well-Trained AV Professionals
Earlier this month, AVIXA’s regional director for India and GCC, Gaurab Majumdar, was invited to represent AVIXA™ in its role and mission as industry association, in a panel discussion on “Procuring skill development products on GeM and benchmarking & certification of skill set in academic and non-academic sector”.
The discussion was part of the six-week National Mission on GeM conference for the education sector. GeM stands for Government e-Marketplace, which facilitates online procurement of common use goods and services required by government institutions in India. With experiential technology at the forefront of the agenda, systems integration service, installation and commissioning were explored as skill-related services for deliberation. Majumdar underscored the importance of qualified staff members capable of installing and maintaining technology equipment, as well as designing digital content. He also highlighted the availability of certified technology specialists™ (CTS®) in India. By 2023, Asia is projected to become the largest pro-AV market, capturing 36 percent of the global industry, as a consequence of new manufacturing hubs emerging in Southeast Asia and South Asia, and Asia-Pacific leading in technology advancements along with the Americas. This is the forecast of the new 2018 AV Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA) Global Summary, produced by AVIXA. The report also predicts that the professional audiovisual industry will grow from US $186 billion in 2018 to US $230 billion by 2023. The 2018 IOTA report for Asia-Pacific can now be purchased separately or in a bundle deal with other regional or global IOTA reports.
