Congreso AVIXA 2021 Connects the AV industry and the Education Sector

FAIRFAX, VA – May 13, 2021 – AVIXA, the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association, hosted the second edition of the virtual Congreso AVIXA April 27-30 and brought together AV and education professionals in Latin America, Spain, and Portugal to learn more about technological solutions for new teaching and learning models.

Congreso AVIXA hosted 43 sessions presented in Spanish and Portuguese, featuring 54 speakers from 14 countries, which helped to offer a broad overview of the current relationship between the education market and the audiovisual industry. More than 3,200 people from 31 different countries joined Congreso AVIXA. During the four days of the program, the online platform counted 6,250 unique views of the presentations.

During his keynote presentation, Nelson Baumgratz, CTS-D, AVIXA Regional Manager for South America, highlighted the importance of building a conceptual bridge that allows society to move toward future education with the help of AV technology.

"AV professionals and education specialists need to communicate with each other to understand the potentialities and limitations of both sides," he pointed out. According to Baumgratz, education specialists should consider AV technology as a mature discipline that is part of their strategies and processes. At the same time, members of the AV industry must observe and listen to the education sector to develop solutions that articulate the best of remote learning with the value of the in-person learning experience.

Peter Hansen, Economic Analyst for AVIXA, presented an overview of pro AV in the education sector. Hansen shared that this year 69% of educational institutions will invest in integrating conferencing solutions, and 86% will invest in audio equipment. Regarding trends for the near future, it is expected that remote education will continue to grow; still, it will not displace in-person learning since it offers benefits and a unique experience that technology cannot replace.

The congress featured sessions about best business practices and new technologies and solutions, such as networked audio system design and unified communications. For example, Ricardo Montesa (Brainstorm-Spain) explored the use of AR and VR for education; Juan Montoya (Ambientes Inteligentes-Colombia) explained how to use a multi-camera system to give more life to remote learning, and Gabriel Branco (Class TechExperience-Brazil) showed how touchless technology can improve the development of customized AV experiences in the classroom.

The Congreso AVIXA virtual platform will remain open through May 31. In addition, AVIXA has expanded the congress with an extended program of on-demand sessions, with fresh content available every week during May. The extended program includes more than 20 additional presentations about technological solutions and best practices to strengthen the knowledge about acoustic design, network management, and space management for hybrid and virtual classrooms.
