Meeting Equity and the Remote Workforce: Tailoring the Experience

In the July Conferencing and Collaboration Power Hour, the panelists discussed meeting equity and the remote workforce led by moderator Peter Coman of PTS Consulting. Nathan Coutinho from Logitech,  Joshua Peterson from Lenovo, Zach Mahlberg from AVI Systems, Lauren Simmen from Crestron, and Zach Bosin from BlueJeans contributed to the lively discussion. Here are some of the top takeaways from the conversation:

  • The parameters have changed – what we viewed as flexible four years ago is not the same today. Today the focus is on tailoring the experience to make sure employees have what they need wherever they are. Meeting equity is mission-critical. As an organization, if you are not focused on meeting equity, you are not engaging your employees.
  • Achieving meeting equity requires a combination of both technology and human factors. It’s much easier to join a call from an individual device than it is to set up a hybrid meeting in a conference room. Technology teams need to work with leadership to identify what types of meetings fit which types of spaces.
  • Employees are more likely to attend an event or a bigger team meeting in the office than go to the office to get work done. This means the office is the new offsite. It’s easy to say, but very hard to pull off. It’s time to start evaluating the rooms, systems, and furniture that can help you flex up and down for these configurations.
