LEADERSHIP SEARCH COMMITTEE JOB DESCRIPTION
This list of responsibilities and arrangements is a broad outline of what prospective nominees for positions on the AVIXA Leadership Search Committee (LSC) can expect.
The Leadership Search Committee shall identify and recruit volunteer leaders of the Association. It will do so with the assistance of the Association’s staff. As referenced in the bylaws, the LSC is responsible for nominating or appointing candidates
to the following positions:
- Board Directors
- Secretary-Treasurer of the Board
- Leadership Search Committee
- Council Chairs (currently: Consultants Council, Live Events, Technology Managers, Manufacturers, Independent Reps, Independent Technical Services, Systems Integrators, Young AV Professionals, Women’s Council, and Diversity Council)
- Steering Committee Members (currently: Content & Learning, Standards, and Membership)
The Leadership Search Committee shall consist of the Leadership Search Chair, Chair of the Board of Directors, Vice Chair, Secretary-Treasurer, and three members elected by the AVIXA membership and four appointed by the Leadership Search Chair.
- The elected members shall serve three-year terms and can be elected for no more than two consecutive terms.
- The appointed members shall serve one two-year term and cannot be re-appointed to consecutive terms.
The Leadership Search Committee shall report to the Board of Directors.
Duties of the members of committees will vary, but certain basic committee member responsibilities remain the same for all committees. Those responsibilities include:
- attend all meetings of the committee;
- prepare for committee meetings by studying the agenda and researching issues to be discussed at committee meetings;
- actively participate in discussions at committee meetings;
- follow through promptly on any assignments for the committee;
- follow the Conflict of Interest Guidelines;
- comply with AVIXA antitrust laws and review the Antitrust Statement;
- all discussions of candidates and potential candidates at committee meetings are CONFIDENTIAL, not to be revealed or disclosed to anyone outside of committee meetings; and
- when a decision is made, support the committee’s recommendation or action.
The group of 11 members meet via teleconference or in person approximately six to eight times per year.
The in-person meetings are usually in December and at the June InfoComm trade show. A calendar of meetings is adopted each December.
With the exception of the June InfoComm trade show, AVIXA will provide for travel and accommodations to official LSC activities and AVIXA membership networking events as relevant for recruitment purposes.
