InfoComm is upon us, the show is happening as planned and the Digital Signage Federation is thrilled to be bringing you the 2021 D=SIGN Conference. Since we’ve last been together, a lot of challenges have taken place…along with a lot of progress. Covid has been a challenge, but it’s also been a catalyst for the digital signage industry. There’s a lot to catch up on, strategic topics to sift through and, most importantly people and perspectives to reconnect with. So, with all these things in mind, the Digital Signage Federation, AVIXA and our dear friends at Rave Agency have been working hard to bring you a 2021 D=SIGN Conference that will make the show trip worth your while. After all, we’ve over a year of missed in person education…so the pressure was on to knock it out of the park!

The 2021 D=SIGN Conference will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday (October 26th) and the morning of Wednesday (October 27th), both set up as half-day sessions in a social distant, safety minded space. We’ll start after lunch on day 1 and end at lunchtime on day 2. Additionally, we’ll have two special sessions on Thursday (October 28th) while the show is in high gear. For all three, you can expect a lineup of thoughtful, strategically inspiring content.

Our first session on Day 1 will focus on trends interactivity & touch screens, a look at how comfortable consumers are regarding touching screens in the new normal we’re moving into. Experts that have been living in the trenches will address and debate consumers sentiments versus reality. We’ll also explore how interactivity will evolve with touch screens and touchless technology and how new modes for interaction such as NFC and QR codes fit in.

Next will be a presentation on the critical need for all digital signs to be connected to the cloud. Anywhere, anytime access for CMS management has become increasingly critical and our experts are going to tell you why, along with how to do it in a way both the c-suite and the worker bees will love equally.

Adding on to the topic ‘corporate responsibility’, the panel following will deal with one of the biggies: security and privacy. GDPR is always a hot topic…but how does it affect your network and deployment strategy? We’re going to talk about it. Further, we’ll enlighten the audience on how liability and risk factors drive your network decisions and ways that local requirements can be supported flexibly, no matter where the privacy winds blow.

Day 1 will wind up discussing one of the most exciting advancements in this industry, which is how 4G/5G is breaking down connectivity barriers in a gangbuster way. Where we used to be shut out when connectivity was unstable or impossible, new advancements, better pricing and evolved solutions has made it a real option for most any situation. We’ll share a few case studies to put the topic into context, but also discuss redundancy, security, and how content delivery over 4G/5G best works with media devices to display and schedule content.

On Day 2, join us bright and early and get the day started right with one of the most tantalizing topics of the year–smart content. A solutions design firm, a global camera analytics guru and a new IoT-enabled, in-home network leader are going to talk about the topic in both theory and reality. We’ll dig into how AI, machine learning, sensors & more must come together to make it happen and how retailers and owner/operators are making it work for both ROI and KPIs.

Following this session, we’ll dive in on how to decide what display technology is right for your project as well as the benefits and differences of video walls, LED, and projection technology for any scale installs.

Both topics will be referred in the third session, which is rooted around what techs to select when you need to get the metrics that matter most for you project. This topic is more important than ever, and we’ll cover the basics of the software and sources you’ll need, along with the most critical question when it comes to IoT sensors–which one should I use?

The day will culminate with a strategic session on when and how to use audio when it comes to digital signage…and how to use it selectively to enhance your solution versus   detract from it.  *To note, expect really exciting case studies peppered into the lineup on both days…we’re just working on the details still!

The final leg of D=SIGN Conference will be Thursday during the show (Lauren, where will these two sessions be?) First, will be a topic on how strategy defines content design and implementation for digital in workplace scenarios–or should anyway! Two gurus that life to design offices employees love to go to will offer an overview of the process that shapes their experiential projects and detailed techniques and technologies they employ. The presentation will be supported by case studies of a national real estate firm and law firm as well as photos and videos from recently completed project.

The second one is a case study on the value of master planning AV systems in large venues. The speakers will share what’s behind the curtain—and what it took–to make American Dream, a 3 million-square-foot development in NJ, magical as both a retail and entertainment destination. It’s a can’t miss for sure!

It’s been a minute since the digital signage industry has been able to gather, and we’ve clearly been working hard to program an amazing D=SIGN lineup this year. Yes, we have realities to navigate regarding getting to the show and staying safe…but the team has the bases covered and the show WILL go on safely. So please, join us and let’s make it the best one ever!
