Overview

Get a deeper understanding of real-world AV activities and developing AV solutions. This One-Day AVIXA™ CTS Prep Workshop is ideal for those who study to sit their Certified Technology Specialist™ (CTS®) exam, as well as recommended for AV sales or consulting professionals wanting to learn more about pre-design documentation for AV projects. It is also relevant to anyone preparing for their CTS®-D exam. This workshop module is based on theory from the AVIXA CTS Prep Online course and offers plenty of opportunities for hands-on activities. Workshop curriculum will focus on the program phase and associated project management techniques applied within AV projects.

Curriculum & Learning Outcome

The workshop will be instructor-led and have participants work together in small groups. You will be taught in this workshop how to:

  • gather information about a prospective AV project
  • conduct a needs analysis, site survey and a mock benchmarking visit
  • produce a document detailing changes required to the site
  • plan a scope of works
  • create a programme report
  • write a work breakdown statement
  • create a Gantt chart 

Requirements

It is strongly recommended that students prepare for this workshop by completing or at minimum studying the CTS Prep Online course (free of charge to all Elite and Premium members).

Main Instructor

Gopal

T S Gopalakrishnan, CTS-D, CTS-I is an AVIXA Instructor. He is an electronics engineer by qualification and has over 21 years of experience in professional AV industry. Starting his career as a design and application engineer in Philips Projects, he was part of many prestigious integrated audio-visual installation projects in India covering a variety of market segments including conference, assembly, industrial, transportation and entertainment projects.

Presently he is working as Technology Specialist with Dynamix Media, New Delhi, an AVIXA member company and a leading audiovisual experiential solutions provider, where he is part of a team designing and implementing unique solutions for event AV requirements.
Prior to this, he has had a stints with  Highbrow, an audiovisual technology solutions provider for events and as technical director at IDSPL, a leading audiovisual and lighting systems integrator based out of Delhi, where he has extended his design and execution capabilities in facilitating a number of successful AV projects, including sound and light shows.
His experience as a design consultant with audio conference and simultaneous interpretation is unparalleled in the region. He has conducted several class-room trainings on CTS Prep, AV Systems Installation Fabrication and Systems Performance Verification courses in India and the Middle East.
He participated at the InfoComm Faculty Excellence program in the USA during March 2015 and has been contributing to the industry by presenting seminars and training sessions at various InfoComm shows in the region.

Jonathan Tulip, CTS

Jonathan Tulip, CTS, Principal Audio Visual Consultant, Venav Media & Technology Consultants, Qatar/UK

For the more than a quarter century, Jonathan Tulip has been lucky enough to spend his waking hours working on a diverse range of projects including museums, stadiums, arenas, corporate AV, hotels and education. Having toured in his early days and undertaken projects as contractor, consultant and client’s representative, he has seen most if not all sides of the industry. He has been at the sharp side of the bleeding edge of technology which has brought with it the armor of experience.
He advocates questioning the status quo to drive the adoption of novel and alternative approaches to deliver excellent end user experience. Currently based in Doha Qatar, Jonathan is a keen advocate of education and training, eager to help fill the knowledge gap caused by the rapid expansion and rate of change faced in the industry.
