Principal Technology Architect: Learning Spaces | UBIT Customer Experience
University at Buffalo Information Technology
John Pfeffer is an experienced audiovisual and educational technology leader with more than two decades of service at the University at Buffalo. As Principal Technology Architect and former Technology Program Manager, he has led the design and implementation of hundreds of technology-enhanced learning environments, integrating solutions such as AVoIP, virtual and augmented reality systems, and direct-view LED displays. His work bridges pedagogy and technology—developing standards for active learning classrooms, simulation labs, and collaborative spaces that advance the student experience. Pfeffer has presented nationally on topics including “AV-as-a-Service,” “Active Learning Design,” and “AR/VR in Higher Ed,” and holds InfoComm CTS certification. A recognized thought leader in higher-education AV integration, he continues to drive innovation that connects teaching, learning, and technology across the academic landscape.

Jesse Anderson is the Associate Director AV Architecture at Tufts University, leading the team responsible AV installations and service delivery throughout the University system. Jesse has been in Pro AV for over 40 years, and in that time has done front of house engineering, 35mm motion picture projection, multi-image slide shows, audio and video editing, arena and stadium sound design, and group/team management. For the past 20 years, he has held positions as an AV Director in Higher Education and has great experience in designing and installing AV systems that ensure that pedagogical, equity and accessibility needs are met. Jesse is a past chair of AVIXA’s Technology Managers Council, member of the Standards Steering Committee and a mentor for the Women’s Council. He is a task group member on several standards and a Subject Matter Expert for various AVIXA initiatives.
Greg Cunneyworth is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Makeway, a digital experience agency that designs and builds websites, interactive displays, and touchscreens for clients in higher education, healthcare, and enterprise.
With over 15 years of experience in design and digital strategy, Greg leads teams in creating human-centered experiences that make complex technology simple, accessible, and meaningful. Makeway's work spans corporate spaces, innovation centers, and public environments—where thoughtful design turns AV systems into experiences people actually enjoy using.
Erin Maher-Moran, CTS, is the IT Manager – Classroom Technology at Johns Hopkins University (JHU). She manages the Classroom/Audiovisual Technology Services team. Her team designs, installs, supports and maintains the classroom technology in general pool classrooms, as well as supports events, on the Homewood Campus in Baltimore, MD. She is also the Chair of the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance (HETMA.org) and the host of AVNation’s EDTech podcast. Erin holds a Master of Engineering Management degree with a focus on Technical Leadership from JHU, as well as a BFA in illustration and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Interactive Multimedia Development from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
The Ohio State University
Andrew Vogel collaborates with The Ohio State University faculty and students to develop courses. He enjoys applying theories to practice. Each day evolves as he utilizes:
