CTS-RUProvider-500x346Promote your expertise, create awareness and generate registration through marketing your course with the documents in the toolkit. Using social media networks effectively can also bring a new element to the learning experience.

Here are a few ways to keep students engaged throughout your course.

Before Your Course:

  • Think about what social media networks are best for your audience. Post course information to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram. Be sure to include an image when posting to increase interest.
  • Provide interesting facts or tidbits of information that you will be teaching. Don’t give everything away, but a good tease or two and mentioning that RUs are available can get people interested.
  • Consider hosting a webcast to promote your course and answer questions from prospective students. Use social media to get the word out about the event.
  • Remember to include how to register, find/search or get more information related to your course in every post. It is recommended to create short links through one of the many link shortening websites such as bit.ly.
  • Create a save-the-date event that includes the time and topic of your course and allow people to add it to their social calendars.
  • Create a shared google calendar for your students to make it easy for them to remember sessions and where or how to attend them.

During Your Course:

  • Add your logo to the RU Provider pamphlet and distribute to students to encourage them to earn their CTS and continue professional development training through RU-approved courses.
  • If you are using Twitter during your course to communicate, provide your username and any other tags on your slides to streamline discussions. Slack is also a great platform for running chat and communication during the course.
  • Post polls to determine areas of interest, trends and other information that you can use during your course. A poll could direct the type of examples used or what kind of trends are influencing the industry and if they have any benefit.
  • Create boards/sets/collections on social media networks such as Pinterest, and use them as supplemental material for the classes and seminars you teach.
  • Keep students engaged long after the course is over. Include social network icons and the URLs to your social networks on your syllabus and in final course communications with students.

After Your Course:

  • Post a thank you message and remind students to check back for more RU-approved courses soon.
  • If you asked for permission to take photos during your course, post them to your social media networks and mention @AVIXA on Twitter and Facebook and @AVIXAgram on Instagram.
