Message to AVIXA’s Live Events Community

The world as we know it has been turned upside down by the global impact of COVID-19. Just like you, the AVIXA team is watching hour-by-hour to determine what is next. Each of us are forced to make complex decisions that impact our employees, communities and the management of our businesses. We realize that the Live Events community, our community, is facing unprecedented times; cancellations are severely impacting your business, peers, and livelihood.

At AVIXA, we stand with you during this uncertainty and would like to share some programs and opportunities that may ease the burden during this difficult time:

Tom Stimson, Owner of the Stimson Group, is hosting a series of webinars titled The Show Will Go On – Business Survival Series, focused on the emerging issues and their impact to the Live Events community. The webinars take place every Wednesday. Check out the schedule of upcoming webinars and view recorded webinars. Stay tuned for additional webinars/online roundtables from both Tom and AVIXA.

AVIXA supports and has joined the Meetings Mean Business coalition. They are advocating to government agencies for relief for both the meetings and live event industry. AVIXA does not lobby, but by joining coalitions like this you can ensure your voices are heard on the Hill. Meetings Mean Business is part of the U.S. Travel Association which has a strong lobbying influence.

Additionally, the Small Business Association (SBA) provides guidance and resources that can help such as the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program, Access to Capital, Guidance for Businesses and Employers, SBA Products and Resources, and Local Assistance.

A new website, AVLiveAid, has valuable resources for the live events community. Also, there is a petition in support of federal aid packages for the events industry.

We encourage you to join AVIXA’s Insight Community. This is a live research group that is currently focused on how COVID-19 is affecting the AV industry – and also a great online community to share challenges during this time.

We are also investigating additional non-US resources to support members in other parts of the world. Stay tuned for more information from the AVIXA Live Events Council.

Currently, much of our community is facing extended home office time. In our ongoing effort to stand with you, we have opened AVIXA’s online training content. It will remain FREE to all who want to access it until June 12, 2020. We invite you and your company to take advantage of AVIXA’s deep educational content to learn new topics, work toward CTS certification, or earn CTS-RUs if already CTS certified. You will need to sign up as at least a basic member, which is also free.

We hope that you will continue to share your voice and ask that if you know someone who can benefit, please share this information.

Thank you for being a part of the AVIXA community!
