This course provides a comprehensive foundation in professional AV installation, focusing on everything an installer is responsible for before powering on a device. Designed for individuals new to AV installation or transitioning from adjacent roles such as live events, broadcast, or music, the course covers the AV project lifecycle, installer responsibilities, jobsite practices, cabling infrastructure, mounting methods, rack systems, and project closeout procedures. Through a blend of conceptual learning and hands-on skill development, learners build the knowledge and practical skills required to prepare AV systems safely, accurately, and according to industry best practices.
Install 2 continues this learning path by covering system power-up, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the key elements of the AV project planning process, including the installer's role, timeline and scope management, and effective use of documents and drawings.
- Describe and demonstrate how to identify, terminate, and configure various types of cables and connectors, apply basic termination techniques, and ensure effective cable management and safety practices in AV systems installation.
- Identify the essential tools, techniques, and safety considerations involved in the preparation and mounting.
- Understand the criteria for selecting and assembling an AV rack, considering client needs, room requirements, ergonomics, weight distribution, and cooling factors.

Registration Coming Soon
This three-day course is eight hours per day. Additional evening work may be required. This course focuses on teaching step-by-step methods and best practices for essential installation skills.

Instructors
Paul Streffon, Senior Staff Instructor/Technical Advisor for AVIXA, has more than 35 years of experience in the AV industry. He has worked in many different areas within the industry: production, system design, installation, sales, marketing, management, and education. Most recently Paul was Director of Sales for tvONE, Inc. He was National Sales Manager for Digital Processing Systems and a regional technical supervisor for Sony Electronics. Streffon holds two degrees, an M.B.A., Management and Business, and a B.S. in Broadcast Electronics. He also earned an FCC Commercial Operator license. Paul is an AV volunteer for his local church community.
