AVIXA Mourns the Loss of Ian Harris

The AVIXA family is heartbroken by the news that Ian Harris, President and Principal Consultant of ihD, has passed away.

While Ian served on AVIXA’s Board of Directors from 2020 to 2022, his volunteerism with AVIXA began many years ago. Ian taught CTS Prep and Essentials of AV Technology for his ihD employees as well as the industry at large. He pioneered teaching AVIXA courses over video conferencing to his remote employees long before AVIXA began hosting virtual classes.

“Ian's talent was matched only by his humility, and I don't think I ever saw him content. He always wanted to be better. I don't know anyone in the region that didn't respect him and his achievements, and he was always respectful in return,” said Jonathan Seller, Senior Director of Asia Pacific, AVIXA. “While he made his home in Asia, I always thought of Ian as the quintessential English gent. While he hasn't been active in ihD in recent times, his passing leaves a void in the AV industry in Asia.”

“Ian's passing not only creates a hole in the industry but also in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him,” said David Labuskes, CEO of AVIXA. “We are all blessed to have people like Ian in the ranks of our industry. Rest in peace, Mr. Harris.”
