Mike Pedersen
M.Engr, CTS-D, CTS-I, Audiovisual Experience Manager, Iowa State University
Mike Pedersen has led the Audiovisual Experience Team (AVXT) at Iowa State University since 2018, bringing more than 30 years of engineering experience, including 26 in professional AV. He oversees AV support for over 200 classrooms and campus-wide consulting, installation, and repair services. Under his leadership, AVXT earned the 2023 Higher Ed AV Team of the Year award.
A recognized industry leader, Mike holds dual CTS-D and CTS-I certifications—held by only about 800 professionals worldwide—and has received AVIXA’s CTS Holder of the Year award (2018) and induction into the Higher Ed AV Hall of Fame (2025).
Mike is a frequent presenter at major conferences such as InfoComm, ETC, MCUAV, NW/MET, and HETMA. He serves on AVIXA’s Membership and Certification Renewal Committees, is a former chair of the AVIXA Technology Managers Council and is a board member of the Educational Technology Collaborative (ETC).
Before joining Iowa State, he spent nearly 20 years at Mechdyne Corporation in engineering management, R&D, and pre-sales roles. He also supports STEM initiatives and previously served on the Governor’s North Central Iowa Regional STEM Advisory Board.
Mike holds two degrees from Iowa State University: A Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (2025) and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (1994).
