David Haynes

Digital Signage Pioneer

Dave Haynes has been directly involved in the digital signage industry for more than 25 years, having spent the first two decades of his working life in the newspaper industry as a journalist, editor and then digital media pioneer. Haynes has run large screen networks - like those in skyscraper elevators - as well as started his own digital media network.

He has done business development work for software companies, and was for some 15 years a sought-after consultant and market analyst, with clients as diverse as Tim Hortons, Bank of America, Nike, Google, Sony, Samsung, LG and Adobe. Haynes was also known throughout the industry for his online publication (and podcast) called Sixteen:Nine.

He produced more than 11,000 posts and 100s of long-form podcast interviews through the years. He stepped back from that role in May 2025 and is now, as he says, kinda sorta retired. Haynes lives in Nova Scotia, Canada.
