Most integrators can name the platform decision holding their digital signage practice back. Very few act on it. The research on why points at a line on the P&L that nobody is measuring.
Ask an integrator whether their digital signage content management platform is the best option for their business, and you will rarely get an enthusiastic yes. Ask whether they plan to change it, and you will almost always get a no.
That gap is not a failure of judgement. It is one of the better documented patterns in B2B buying, and it carries a cost that appears nowhere in a quarterly review.
Doing Nothing Wins More Evaluations Than You Think, And Not for the Reason You Would Guess
Buyer Truths 2026, a study of 172 senior B2B software buyers, found that 62% stayed with an existing vendor over the previous twelve months even when a better option was available. Implementation effort was named by 51% as the reason. Effort weighed roughly three times more than price.
The fear is rational. Capterra's 2026 Software Buying Trends Report, covering 3,385 software decision-makers across eleven countries, found that 89% of buyers who regretted a purchase had first hit an unexpected problem during implementation. Integration failures, migration issues, delays, configuration.
So, when an integrator declines to move a working estate, they are not being lazy. They are pricing a risk that the data says is real. The problem is that they are only pricing one side of it.
The Leak You Cannot See
A migration has a cost you can see. A quote, a timeline, a week of someone's attention, an uncomfortable conversation with a customer whose screens already work.
Staying has a cost you cannot see, because it arrives in fragments. Twenty minutes on a playback issue that should not have needed a human. A site visit a remote fix would have covered. A new technician taking two weeks to become useful on a platform that should have taken two days.
Individually, noise. Cumulatively, the difference between a practice that scales and one that stalls at the number of sites your team can hold in their heads.
There is little room left elsewhere to absorb it. Commercial Integrator and NSCA research has shown 84% of integrators reporting hardware margins of 30% or less. When product margin is thin, operational efficiency stops being housekeeping and becomes the margin.
Four Questions that Turn the Decision into Arithmetic
Not every integrator should switch. The point is that most are deciding by default rather than by calculation.
What does a deployment cost you in hours, not product? Engineering and support hours per site over the first ninety days, times your loaded rate. Most integrators have never worked it out.
How much of your fleet is locked to specific hardware? If the platform lives inside the display, the display's lifespan sets your platform's lifespan.
How many CMS platforms is your team juggling? Each one adds its own deployment, update and troubleshooting routine — so the more vendors you run, the more process overhead your people absorb on every single site.
What is the break even? One-off cost of moving, divided by the monthly hours you would stop spending. Under twelve months, and staying is the more expensive decision.
The Barrier is the Product
The barrier to change is not price and it is not a shortage of alternatives. It is effort, risk, and disruption. So, the fair test to put to any vendor is not what their software does, but what they do about the part that actually stops you. Who supports the transition, who trains your team. A good partner program closes exactly this gap: onboarding, training, and a named point of contact for the migration itself, not just for the sale.
To see what this looks like against your own estate rather than in the abstract, talk to a Yodeck representative.
Yodeck's partner program for MSPs, AV integrators, and IT resellers is built to help you grow by unlocking recurring revenue on every digital signage subscription rather than a one-off hardware sale:
Less time supporting deployments with a top-rated for ease-of-use CMS, which means fewer support tickets and faster rollouts.
Best in market margins.
Lower hardware cost — a free Raspberry Pi–based player included on annual plans.
Flexible white-label options.
A team behind them, not just software — a 20-person dedicated partner team (solution engineers, marketing, sales, and a named account manager).
