In a recent customer success story, I've read how a university, Binghamton City School District, has implemented speakers and intercom solutions to enhance their campus security and communication.
What impressed me, is that the original goal for the campus was pure security, moving from an old physical security system to a more modern and advanced system that would offer much more than just security. As their "Security Infrastructure and Support Department" says
"We’ve also captured business intelligence we can use to increase efficiencies in our day-to-day operations."
For example, they needed to improve the sound quality of broadcasts, and also have the flexibility to push out messages campus-wide, as well as to select zones, or even page an individual. So they integrated a network speakers with the Alertus system for mass notification.
Having a network-based audio solution facilitates better communication between staff and visitors, and can also be used for announcements and emergencies.
The university chose several analytics to provide metrics to help them direct the campus resources better and run the operations more efficiently.
