A View from the Show Floor

From where I sit, planning the show floor for Integrate each year gives you a particular vantage point. You watch which zones grow, which conversations get louder, and where the exhibitor interest is moving. This year, broadcast AV is one of the clearest signals we have.

The Lines are No Longer Holding

The lines between broadcast, streaming and AV are no longer holding. IP-based video distribution, cloud production and remote workflows have moved from the edges of the industry into everyday practice. What used to be three separate disciplines now sit on the same network, use overlapping toolsets, and increasingly compete for the same skilled people.

SMPTE 2110 and NDI are no longer specialist vocabulary, they are part of how a growing number of AV professionals talk about their work.

Who's Walking the Floor

We are seeing this play out in who walks the floor. Corporate media teams, education providers and live production professionals are all asking broadcast-style questions about quality, latency and scale. The technology ecosystem is genuinely converging, and that brings both opportunity and a real learning curve for people coming at it from a traditional AV background.

Where This Lands at Integrate

It is one reason Integrate 2026 has a dedicated Streaming Media, AVoIP and Broadcast AV zone, alongside a new SMPTE Oceania Industry Forum running on 3 September. The forum brings the media technology community together to work through exactly these shifts, from the move to streaming through to AI-driven production and multiplatform delivery. It is open and accessible by design, which matters when so many people are entering this space for the first time.

The Takeaway

For the AVIXA community, the takeaway is straightforward. Broadcast knowledge is becoming AV knowledge. The professionals who understand both will be the ones specifying and building the connected experiences that organisations now expect.

Are You Registered for Integrate?

Integrate 2026 runs 2 to 4 September at ICC Sydney.
