InfoComm América Latina Opens the Conversation on AI in Audiovisual Integration

On October 22, the AI Summit + Lab will bring together industry professionals to discuss how to adapt their expertise to artificial intelligence tools and test them in a hands-on workshop

Mexico City, Mexico. October 8, 2026 – Artificial intelligence (AI) is not new in the audiovisual integration industry. Long before the current boom, universities and corporations used remote device monitoring and management platforms that told them, for example, which projectors on a campus needed cleaning or which ones had been left on after classes ended. These tools helped them anticipate failures, save energy, and better organize technical teams' work. Today, the scope of AI solutions is much broader.

The challenge is no longer deciding whether to adopt these tools, but how to do so judiciously. That is the premise of the AI Summit + Lab, the segment that the educational program of InfoComm América Latina 2026 will dedicate to AI applied to the sector. Organized by AVIXA, InfoComm América Latina is the region’s largest event for the audiovisual integration industry and will be held October 21–23 at the World Trade Center in Mexico City.

“The audiovisual integration industry has years of experience using smart tools to operate and maintain its spaces, and that experience is now an advantage. What has changed is the scope: AI is now part of the quote, the design, the planning, and the support. The AI Summit + Lab is the place to discuss how to adapt, learn from what already works, and test what is now possible,” said Renata Mérida Neris, Director of Live Content for AVIXA in Latin America.

A Down-to-Earth Conversation

During the first hours of the AI Summit + Lab, the program will focus on strategy. Integrators, manufacturers, and users will share what companies should consider when investing in AI for their collaboration spaces: what problem it actually solves, what’s needed to implement it well, and what turned out to be different from expectations. The panel will also have a frank discussion about what the industry gains and what it must safeguard, based on one premise: the essential product of audiovisual integration is human communication. Drawing on real-world scenarios, panelists will discuss whether AI expands creativity or homogenizes projects, which professional skills remain irreplaceable, and whether technology democratizes market access or concentrates it in the hands of those who control platforms and data.

Learning by Doing

In the second part of the day, the hands-on workshop—which requires no programming knowledge—will shift the conversation to projects. First, attendees will see how AI can streamline the discovery phase: gathering requirements, identifying gaps and contradictions, and translating them into business language. Then, they will build a functional application in real time based on AVIXA’s DISCAS (Display Image Size for 2D Content in Audiovisual Systems) calculator—which determines the appropriate image size for a screen—with AI helping guide development. The event will conclude with thematic breakout sessions: each participant will arrive with a challenge from their day-to-day work—whether in systems design, support and troubleshooting, or responsible adoption and governance—and will leave with a concrete first step toward resolving it.

“AI amplifies and organizes, but human judgment is what validates. In the AI Summit + Lab workshop space, we won’t be talking about what artificial intelligence might be able to do someday, but rather what it can already do today to better understand the customer, design with greater precision, and operate projects more efficiently,” said Nelson Baumgratz, CTS-D, CTS-I, AVIXA’s regional manager for Mercosur, who will participate in the workshop.

The program brings together specialists from AVIXA and companies such as Citibanamex, Bose Professional, Cisco, Footprint Global, Grupo Niza, Integración AV, Jabra GN Audio, PDF Corp, Pyxis Tech, and XTEN-AV, as well as regional integrators and consultants. Two of the sessions offer CTS certification renewal credits.

The AI Summit + Lab will take place on October 22 in Education Room 4 (Uxmal) at the World Trade Center in Mexico City. Like all other InfoComm América Latina activities, there is no cost and no additional registration is required: simply complete the general registration at infocomm-americalatina.org/registrate.
