Submission Deadline (into the Certification Office) by 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on September 10, 2026.
This is a notice of a Call for Candidates who are qualified and interested in serving on the AVIXA Certification Steering Committee (Certification Committee). For the 2026 election period, one candidate from each certification will be elected to the Certification Steering Committee; the candidate with the most votes will serve for a term of three (3) years. Candidates who meet the requirements and timelines for making application will be included in an electronic ballot to be distributed to all currently certified CTS® holders. Nominations may only be submitted by an individual holding a CTS certification at the certification level noted for the vacant position applied for. Application must be completed in full and include a bio or resume to be considered.
The AVIXA Certification Committee is authorized to provide oversight in the development and administration of credible Certified Technology Specialist™ certifications and to assure the credentials meet and maintain best industry practices in credentialing. Members of the Certification Committee shall collectively possess the certifications the committee provides oversight to and shall, through education and experience, represent the stakeholder interests served by the certifications.
There will be three (3) Certification Committee positions (out of a Committee of 9) whose terms end December 31, 2026.
One open position — Must be a CTS holder and meet all other requirements as noted.
One open position — Must be a CTS-D holder and meet all other requirements as noted.
One open position — Must be a CTS-I holder and meet all other requirements as noted.
Only candidates submitting all required information with the application will be considered and reviewed by the Nominating Committee.
The process and guidelines for Candidate nominations are as follows:
1. The Call for Candidates will include instructions and requirements for nominations.
2. Any certificant can nominate him or herself, or be nominated by any other certificant who is in good standing with the Certification Committee.
3. All nominees must fully complete and personally submit the AVIXA Certification Steering Committee Candidate Application as well as the following documents:
A Candidate Statement of Interest to Serve
Signed Certification Committee Volunteer Code of Conduct Agreement
Two letters of recommendation, each hand-signed
A headshot photo for the ballot in an electronic format
Brief bio or resume
4. All nominees must meet all published deadlines.
5. All candidate information must be submitted to the Chair of the Nominating Committee, addressed to the Director of Certification at the address noted.
Note: The Certification Committee, from time to time, may need to fill positions with a committee member(s) possessing specific skills or expertise (i.e., in the event a new credential or program is being developed and no resident experience exists). Candidates with experience in the following areas are of particular interest:
Diverse candidates
Geographically located outside of the USA, especially those located in Europe, India and South America – (should be able to understand and communicate effectively English)
Current working knowledge of technology management
Current working knowledge of the live events industry
Expertise in experiential design
Experience serving on one of the Certification Committee subcommittees
1. Candidate Information
To assist the Nominating Committee in selecting candidates and presenting information to certificants for voting, nominees are required to provide biographical and demographic information as requested on the Candidate Application.
The Nominating Committee will publish candidate biographical and demographic information and the candidate Statement of Interest to Serve with the official ballot.
Candidates will be required to review and approve this information prior to it being published as part of the ballot.
2. The biography will include experience, education, employment history and other relevant background information and include statement of 150 words or less regarding interest in serving on the Certification Committee as noted in the Application.
The Statement of Interest to Serve must not exceed one hundred fifty (150) words. Only the first one hundred fifty (150) words will be published.
The statement must be submitted in typewritten form. An email attachment is acceptable. No handwritten information will be included.
3. Applications must be signed by the nominee, attesting to the accuracy of the information provided and agreement to serve if elected.
4. No more than one Certification Committee member from the same company or organization can be elected to the Committee. If members change their company or organization affiliation and this results in more than one member of the same company or organization serving on the Committee they may do so until their terms expire. When one or more Committee members from the same company or organization serve on the Committee, only one may vote on issues before the Committee.
All qualified candidates may run for election, however if there is more than one candidate from the same company or organization, of those candidates, only the one with the most votes will be eligible to serve on the committee if elected.
In the unlikely event of a tie vote for two or more candidates from the same company or organization, the ballots for that particular office shall be recounted. If a tie still exists, the names of the nominees shall be placed in a container and one name shall be drawn by the independent CPA firm. The name drawn shall be declared elected to the office.
Committee members shall attend all meetings (typically online meetings) and perform all committee assignments and other duties as required.
Committee members are responsible for understanding the mission and purpose of the Certification Committee certification program(s).
Committee members are responsible for reading, understanding and complying with the policies and procedures and governance documents of the Certification Committee.
Committee members shall behave in a professional manner, adhering to the CTS Code of Ethics and Conduct.
Committee members shall respect the confidentiality of written and verbal communications and shall maintain the confidentiality of documents and information they receive in the course of their service.
Certification Committee members shall sign a Volunteer Code of Conduct including a Non-Disclosure and Conflict of Interest Agreement as a condition of service.
Certification Committee members shall avoid personal and professional conflicts of interest; if at some point a conflict of interest arises, the committee member shall inform the Chair of the Certification Committee.
Certification Committee members shall understand and accept their fiduciary responsibility and their responsibilities to certificants and the public it serves.
Certification Committee members shall not speak or act for the Certification Committee without proper authorization.
Certification Committee members shall act fairly and be impartial in their role of committee member and in service to the Certification Committee and the stakeholders it serves.

The Nominating Committee will distribute the Call for Candidates to all certificants no later than July 30, 2026, with a deadline for submissions as of September 10, 2026.
Electronic ballots will be distributed no later than October 12, 2026, with deadline for voting no later than November 16, 2026.
Results of the new slate of Certification Committee will be announced publicly by electronic mailing and on website no later than December 4, 2026.
Submissions are due in the AVIXA Certification Office no later than 5:00 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on September 10, 2026.
All applications must be submitted electronically via the online form.
