PMA Research: Worldwide Display Report 2018
The Worldwide Display Report, commissioned by AVIXA™ and prepared by PMA Research, provides manufacturers and suppliers of large screen displays with a view of end-user considerations for past and future purchases. With interviews among end-user decision-makers from the three major regions of the world, this report seeks to deliver on the need for demand-side perspectives on a global basis.
Readers can use the report to gain a better understanding of the demand for various display types among end users to help them with product planning and sales forecasting. There are also insights that are usable in knowing how to appropriately market and sell display solutions to the end users.
- Unit purchases are expected to hold steady or grow slightly as 81% of respondents said they would buy as many or more displays in the next 12 months than they did in the past 12 months.
- As displays for meeting places approach full penetration, future sales will have to come from the replacement of existing units or new applications. As revealed in this study, non-traditional applications are growing, including digital signage and wayfinding kiosks both inside and outside buildings.
- The majority of large displays are purchased direct from the manufacturer or through retail channels in North America, but integrators dominate in Europe and Asia markets. In either case, buyers are very satisfied with their purchases.
- Specific applications favor one technology over another – projectors were still preferred in single-screen venues with viewing surfaces at or above 100 inches, while flat panel is the go-to favorite for breakrooms, boardroom, or lobbies and when 4K or better resolution is preferred.
