Monroe Jost, founder of J&S Audio Visual in Irving, Texas, was a pioneer of what we all know today as pro AV. He showed me great wisdom, kindness, and patience as I came up through the AV industry, and I know he must have done the same for so many of us who had the pleasure of having him in our lives. Monroe not only helped us all understand the interlocking relationships that make this industry great, but also stood strongly at the intersection of many of them. He made me -- and AVIXA -- better for having known him.

Monroe Jost passed away April 6, 2019. To his family and everyone at J&S Audio Visual, we at AVIXA offer our sincere condolences. Monroe served as President of our Board of Directors in 1993 when AVIXA was known as the International Communications Industries Association (ICIA). His many contributions helped lay the groundwork for the global organization we are today. I always enjoyed taking his phone calls and listening to his insight and feedback. Today's AVIXA and the AV industry in general would not be what they are now without professionals like Monroe volunteering their time and effort.

Monroe started JSAV in 1986 with a bank loan, and as the company wrote in its tribute, "Monroe was confident that if he focused on one aspect of the business -- customer service -- he would be able to quickly grow a client base." And he did.
