A Letter of Thanks from Your Outgoing Certification Steering Committee Chair
by Jeremy Caldera
As I look back on my time over the past four years on the Certification Steering Committee, the past three as your chair, I am so proud of what the industry has achieved. In this short time, we have seen the CTS program grow by the thousands and become the leading professional audiovisual certification worldwide. We are seeing the need for education, standards, and certified personnel to be recognized not only among consultants and integrators, but also by end users and those in our adjacent industries. This only means one thing, a commitment by all to push the industry to a new level and a higher standard.
I want to thank the certification staff at AVIXA because without them this program would not have become what it is today. If it wasn’t for the countless volunteers who help with the subcommittees, from the exam writers to the Ethics Committee, the program would not continually advance or stay current. Most of all, I want to personally thank every CTS, CTS-D, and CTS-I holder and all the companies that push the program within their own organization. Without the support of the audiovisual community, and the drive to constantly be better individuals and organizations through education and certification, we would not be where we are today.
I am looking forward to what the next committee will do to lead the program. What many people may not know is that the committee, unlike most at AVIXA, is not appointed. The Certification Steering Committee is elected by the CTS holders. Those who run for the committee are your peers. Recently there was a call for nominations to the committee and there are always such great candidates who run for the positions. I encourage all of you reading this letter, who have your certification of course, to make sure you vote! Our industry is small and because of that, your vote really does matter. The peers you elect are there to represent your voice and views of where the CTS should go next. My time on this committee has been rewarding in more ways than I can express here, and I hope it is the same for the next representatives.
