Diversity Council Spotlight - Alexis La Broi
The AVIXA DIVERSITY council celebrates African Americans that make history in AV starting with a very fantastic lady!
Alexis La Broi, MBA, is the 1st Black woman elected to the the AVIXA Board of Directors. She was also Women in AV’s (WAVE) first Mentor of the Year in 2012 and was recognized in SCN Magazine's AV Hall of Fame in 2018. Serving as a leader in the Live Events & Pro AV sector for over 25 years, she designed and consulted for top AV firms in the greater Washington D.C. area for top organizations.
And Today, as Director of Sales at VER, She's Still Going Strong! With a commitment to volunteering & mentoring, she serves as a Meeting Professionals International Board Director, an Integrate Baltimore member, & an AVIXA Women's council Co-Leader for the DC/ MD/VA chapter.

Charmaine Torruella is the Global Services Manager at Verrex, and Chairperson for the AVIXA Diversity Council. Charmaine’s 18-year career in both IT and AV, along with her Jamaican and Cuban heritage and achievements as a single working mother, put her in the unique position to galvanize and champion the AVIXA’s diversity initiatives.
