Diversity Council Spotlight - Ryan Smith
Meet Ryan Smith! Ryan shares why he became part of the Diversity Council:
“I represent the LGBT community and consider AV a place to have deep, industry changing discussions to improve and expand our scope as an industry. I believe in the power of networking and giving more voices an opportunity to make a difference with my volunteer management experience which I hope to help elevate our operations and engagement.
In addition, it would be wonderful for us to have a larger presence at events such as pride parades, gay bars, TV studios (For example: who does the AV for Rupaul's drag race?), and to also hopefully network more with others who support LGBT tech careers.”
Charmaine Torruella is the Global Services Manager at Verrex, and Chairperson for the AVIXA Diversity Council. Charmaine’s 18-year career in both IT and AV, along with her Jamaican and Cuban heritage and achievements as a single working mother, put her in the unique position to galvanize and champion the AVIXA’s diversity initiatives.
