AVIXA’s Certified Technology Specialist Program Earns Accreditation From India’s National Accreditation Board for Education and Training

FAIRFAX, VA – Feb. 21, 2018 – AVIXA™, the Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association, is pleased to announce its Certified Technology Specialist™ (CTS®) program is now accredited by India’s National Accreditation Board for Education and Training (NABET). For more than 30 years, AVIXA has administered the CTS program, which is recognized worldwide as the leading AV professional credential. There are more than 11,000 CTS holders, and over 2,000 have a CTS-D (Design) or CTS-I (Installation) specialized credential.

NABET, a constituent Board of the Quality Council of India (QCI), works to develop qualified personnel and credible vocational training courses in various industry sectors. To earn accreditation, an organization must demonstrate effective management and delivery of a holistic education program aimed at overall development of students.

“It’s very beneficial for both organizations to come together for a common cause of creating wider talent pool for the industrial sector,” said QCI Secretary General Dr. Ravi P. Singh. “We will help support the CTS program across the member institutions and enterprises in India. Together, we will herald a new era of competent and certified professionals for the country’s excellence in business.”

“With a growing Indian AV market, there is a large pool of professionals in demand,” said Gaurab Majumdar, AVIXA’s Regional Director for India and Middle East. “This announcement is an extension of AVIXA’s commitment to India’s rapidly expanding AV market. This certification, now recognized by NABET, will help Indian students pursue a career path in this industry. As the CTS program continues to be adopted in India, it will become the gold standard by which qualified AV professionals are distinguished.”

According to AVIXA’s Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis (IOTA), the Indian economy grew by 7 percent in 2016 and will likely maintain a yearly growth rate of more than 7 percent through 2019. Prime Minister Modi’s government in India has allocated $15 billion to its Smart Cities Mission, whose goal is to promote the creation of 100 smart cities over the next decade. New construction projects, upgrades, and steady growth within India’s TV and film sectors all serve to reinforce the overall beneficial effect the Indian economy is having on the AV sector.

“The Indian AV market is poised to grow very well over the next decade in various technology applications around unified collaboration and entertainment,” said Kuldip Kamat, CTS, Managing Director, AllWave AV Systems, and member of AVIXA’s India Advisory Group. “The need for a young, vibrant workforce with credentials has never been higher. The ones who skill and re-skill themselves with an eye on the future will walk away with the rewards. NABET recognition will motivate the young generation to choose AV as career.”
