InfoComm Partners with BICSI to Introduce New Course on Using Category Cable in AV Applications

FAIRFAX, VA — April 27, 2016 — InfoComm International® has partnered with information and communication technology association BICSI to develop a new online education course titled How to Install and Validate Category Cable, foundational training for AV and IT professionals working with high-resolution video and real-time audio.

The new course provides fundamental education for installation technicians working with category cable in the AV industry. The 10-hour comprehensive course starts with the basics of cabling, getting familiar with cable connectors and category cable terminology. Then it moves into instruction on terminating and testing cables, cable linking and installation, and troubleshooting cables. The course also includes lessons on InfoComm’s new standard F501.01:2015 Cable Labeling for Audiovisual Systems.

How to Install and Validate Category Cable for AV is the first online course to include a skills demonstration component. Students will take photos or video of their termination and validation tests, which will be reviewed by instructors. To enhance the learning experience, the course also features 10 demonstration videos.

"InfoComm is committed to providing AV professionals with rich educational resources," said David Labuskes, CTS®, RCDD, Executive Director and CEO, InfoComm International.
